30 Book Challenge

So I mentioned on my last post that part of my resolutions was to do the 30 book reading challenge. What's that, you ask? Well, on goodreads I have signed up for the reading challenge that they run all year long. You get to select the number of books you want to challenge yourself to read over the year, and if you complete your goal, you get to keep a shiny badge on your profile! Last year I was a little too ambitious and challenged myself to 52 books even though I knew I was going to be busy with school and work, but I managed to make 33 at least. So this year I have decided to go with 30, since I have even more things on my plate.

Below is a tentative list of the books I've picked out. I'll be adding to it as I come up with more, but here is the initial selection:

1. Incarceron by Catherine Fisher ✓
2. Sapphique by Catherine Fisher
3. Behemoth by Scott Westerfeld ✓
4. Goliath by Scott Westerfeld ✓
5. Princess of Glass by Jessica Day George
6. Sovay by Celia Rees
7. Little Miss Red by Robin Palmer ✓
8. The Spirit Lens by Carol Berg*
9. Heist Society by Ally Carter*
10. The Oathbound by Mercedes Lackey*
11. A Tale of Two Castles by Gail Carson Levine
12. Crossed by Ally Condie
13. Inheritance by Christopher Paolini
14. Where We Belong by Emily Giffin
15. A Confusion of Princes by Garth Nix
16. City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
17. Artemis Fowl: The Last Guardian by Eoin Colfer
18. Forbidden Magic by Jennifer Lyon

*These books have sequels that will be added to the list if I end up really liking them.

Hello 2012!

This is the year I graduate! But let me not get ahead of myself. Remember last year, the first day of 2011? I opened this blog and said I was going to update all the time?

...yeah, that didn't happen. But! Maybe this year I'll have better luck. At the very least, I'll be coming back here to reference my three big resolutions for the year.

Here they are:

1) Education related - I resolve to finish my undergraduate career with a 4.0 this semester, and I want to make sure that I pick a good graduate school to attend in the fall. In addition, I should try my best to get an internship/job this summer!

2) Interests related - I resolve to finish playing Skyward Sword, Minish Cap, Spirit Tracks, and all the sidequests in Twilight Princess. I also resolve to complete my 30 book reading challenge.

3) Health related - I resolve to continue taking two vitamins a day, drink two glasses of water a day at least, and increase my calcium uptake while making sure to eat/exercise properly.

So there you go. Let's see what happens.

Hello 2011!

I'm going to start off the new year with a bang. A literary bang. And by literary bang I mean I am officially going to declare the opening of this blog!

...alright, so that wasn't as exciting as I made it sound like, if I made it sound interesting at all. Let's just get to the meat, err, tofu-product of this entry, alright?

This right here is the game of the year. Except not really, because it came out about four years ago and I have just started playing it like the procrastinator I am. And really, I played half of the game already "last year" so it can't really be my 2011 game but I will pretend. I just have to let everyone know that this is an awesome game.

More about my life and the game and how the two are sadly mutually exclusive will come later, maybe on a day when I am not writing a post past midnight. For now, you just get this list:
